Shadow
— the gentleman
Found behind a closed restaurant in winter. Three weeks before he stopped flinching at hands. Now he sleeps belly-up on the sofa.
How he found us
Shadow appeared one cold November evening, curled in the gap behind a shuttered restaurant. Skinny, scared, and so quiet you could miss him entirely. It took weeks of slow visits with food before he came close enough to be lifted into a carrier.
Who he is now
He picked his name himself, really. He follows me from room to room, just slightly out of arm’s reach, like the world’s most polite ghost. He’s earned every soft thing he has.
His favourite thing is when the afternoon sun crosses the kitchen floor. He waits for it. Every day.
What he still needs
Shadow is older, and his teeth need work. Donations help cover his upcoming cleaning, his daily joint care, and the never-empty bowl he expects (rightly so).
